Arrest Records in Caroline County
The Caroline County Sheriff's Office makes arrests through its patrol and investigative work, but it is not the only agency that can create an arrest record here. Bowling Green Police handles town policing, Virginia State Police works state highways and statewide investigations, and other specialized officers may act within their authority. Port Royal has no separate police records system confirmed in official sources, so CCSO is the practical first call for a county law-enforcement event there. The agency named on the warrant, citation, or incident paperwork is the best clue to the report custodian.
CCSO Records maintains its deputies' criminal files and arrest history. The official Sheriff's Records Department page identifies that role and contact point.
The Records Department can help locate a CCSO report, but it cannot supply a VSP narrative or replace the final Caroline County court disposition.
Caroline County Weekly Arrest Archive
The CCSO Arrest Reports archive is the most direct official channel for a recent Caroline County arrest search. The page lists weekly PDF reports by publication date, including current 2026 entries. It does not offer a name field, radius filter, or paid account. Choose the week around the event date and open the PDF. If the event falls near a report cutoff, check the next report as well.

- Use VADOC only after the person enters state custody or state community supervision.
If Bowling Green Police, VSP, or a specialized agency created the arrest report, ask that agency for its narrative. The Caroline County clerk may hold the resulting prosecution even though CCSO does not hold the police file.

Virginia FOIA permits actual-cost charges, and CCSO says a staff member will contact the requester before chargeable processing. Active investigative material and protected personal data may be withheld or redacted.
Arrest Records: What They Contain
An arrest creates more than one Caroline County record. The deputy's narrative describes the event. Intake staff confirm identity, record the legal process and charges, inventory property, take fingerprints and a photograph, screen health needs, and classify custody. The magistrate performs an initial review and may set bail. Reportable fingerprint-supported data flows toward the Virginia State Police Central Criminal Records Exchange. The court later records filed charges, which may differ from the booking wording.

The official weekly PDFs may identify the report period, arresting-agency context, arrest date, alleged offense, and summary facts. They do not promise a booking number, photograph, bond, holding site, full birth date, or final outcome.
Caroline County Arrest Data Chain
A CCSO deputy sends the report to Records. The office maintains the Caroline County arrest history created by its deputies and reports data to VSP, which supports both the Central Criminal Records Exchange and onward crime reporting to the FBI. This chain does not make every product identical. The weekly report is a recent publication, the agency file holds the narrative, CCRE holds qualifying identity-linked history, and a court file records what prosecutors filed and what the judge decided.

Recent Caroline County Bookings
Caroline County does not publish a verified current inmate-name roster. Start with the weekly arrest archive, call CCSO, and ask where the person was committed. Do not assume that the Caroline Detention Facility is the local jail. The campus opened in 1999 as Peumansend Creek Regional Jail, ended regional-jail operations in 2017, and later reopened for federal immigration detention. It is not the ordinary public booking roster for every local arrest.

Correct Caroline County Arrest Records
A court charge can be amended, dismissed, or resolved under wording that differs from the first Caroline County arrest entry. If CCRE lacks the outcome or shows an error, obtain a certified disposition from the proper clerk. Contact the arresting agency because VSP directs a person disputing an entry to the agency that reported the arrest cycle. Caroline County arrest records and conviction records answer different questions. An agency entry establishes that officers reported an arrest or intake event. It does not decide guilt.
