Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems automatically receive basic technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times

- Pages opened and approximate time spent on them
- The referring website, when one is provided

No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site publishes general directions to Caroline County Sheriff's Office Records, Virginia courts, the Virginia Department of State Police Central Criminal Records Exchange, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or dossiers about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and disclosure practices govern information entered there. We do not control those terms, so review the provider's policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-aid, or outside search websites. Once you leave our pages, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads.

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

We use customary safeguards for data in our care. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.

Where it applies, the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Virginia Code §§ 59.1-575 through 59.1-585, may provide additional rights concerning personal data.
